Scope
This policy explains how Northern Beaches Tree Loppers handles personal information collected through this website and through enquiries made to the phone number published on it. It is written with reference to the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
This site operates as a referral service. That is relevant to privacy because the main reason we hold your information is to pass it to a tree contractor so they can quote and carry out your job.
What we collect
We collect what you give us when you make an enquiry: your name, phone number, email address, the property address the work relates to, and whatever you tell us about the job — descriptions, access notes and photographs of the tree or site.
We also collect ordinary technical information automatically when you visit, including your IP address, the pages you viewed, the referring page, and your browser and device type. This is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used and to keep it working across devices.
We do not collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and you should not send us any. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, to arrange a contractor to quote your job, to follow up on quotes and bookings, to answer questions and complaints, and to meet legal obligations. If you have agreed to it, we may also send occasional service information, and you can opt out of that at any time.
Who we disclose it to
The main disclosure is to the independent tree contractor referred to your job. They receive your contact details, the property address and the job description, because they cannot quote or attend without them. Once they have it, they handle it under their own privacy obligations.
We also use service providers who handle data on our behalf — website and form hosting, email and phone services, and analytics. Where a provider stores data outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We may disclose information where the law requires it, where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim, or where we reasonably believe it is needed to prevent a serious threat to someone's safety. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences and to measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do. Quote forms embedded on this site are provided by a third-party form platform and set their own cookies, governed by that provider's privacy terms.
How long we keep it
Enquiry records are kept while they are needed for the purpose they were collected for, and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping and dispute resolution — generally around seven years for records connected to work that was quoted or carried out. When information is no longer needed and we are not required to retain it, it is deleted or de-identified.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls on systems that hold enquiry data. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Contact us on (02) 9000 1858 or through the contact page. We will respond within a reasonable period and will tell you if we cannot give access, and why.
If you believe your privacy has been mishandled, tell us first so we can look into it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Third-party sites and changes
This site links to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and you should read their policies. We may update this policy from time to time, and the current version is always the one published here.
